Distillery Road,
Wexford.

Womens Refuge Wexford

Wexford Women’s Refuge provides 24hr crisis accommodation for women and children experiencing domestic violence in their own homes. On admission many families will present with very little as more often than not they will have no option, but to leave their homes in haste. In 2009, 67 mothers and 158 children sought accommodation in the Refuge. These statistics show that domestic violence is very prevalent in our community. The Refuge is open 24x7x365 and a 24hr Freephone Service is also in operation. It is 85% funded by the Dept. Health & Children and the other 15% comes from the Dept. Environment. Severe cuts were implemented in 2008 due to cuts in funding. These cuts will continue to operate in the foreseeable future.
