The Half Marathon & Relay Run Route (Will be revised)

The Wexford Half Marathon is a single loop course taking in some of the finest sights Wexford Town and surrounds have to offer.
The course Starts in Ferrybank and Finishes along the Quays of Wexford Town.

Description
Starting at Ferrybank. Runners will cross the bridge and turn left onto the Quays. Follow the Quays to the Tourist Office. Here they will join the road and continue out the Rosslare Rd staying on the left until they pass Johnstown Rd turn. Here they will cross the road (Garda assisted) and continue on the right up along the Rosslare Rd. Take a right into Sinnotstown Rd continue straight up this road to the Johnstown Rd crossroads. Cut across this road and continue up to Whiterock. Down Whiterock Hill straight through the Bishopstown roundabout. Continue up Whitemill Rd. Take a right up to the Clonard Church. Left and quick right taking route through Clonard to Coolcots roundabout. Continue straight to Hospital. Take a left at Hospital and continue out Newtown Rd. Cross Newtown Rd at the racecourse top exit (Garda assisted) and run to Maldron(Quality Hotel) roundabout. Take a right towards Ferrycarrig continue down to bridge. Take a right at bridge and continue back to Wexford town along the Carcur and Redmond Rd. Circle the roundabout in Redmond Sq and take a left up the North main and South main street. Continue up Barrack St. Turn left onto Parnell St and cross to the far side (Garda assisted) continue back to Paul Quay. Enter the Quays at the Tourist Office take a right and run around the cone. Then continue down the Quays to the finish by the bridge.

1) Top Whiterock Hill (turn on the road) 6.1km – Green area2) Far side Coolcotts roundabout 9.8km – Green area
3) Bottom of Crosbie Bros Lane 12.1km – Tarmac surface
4) Old Gateway Entrance past Páirc Garman 15.8km – Gravel surface

Markings and Stewards
The course will be marked with signs and Stewards will be on hand to direct you at key turning points of the route.Note: There are 3 points on the route where the Gardai will be assisting you in crossing the road. Please take extra care at these points. Be sure to cross when indicated by Gardai or Steward that it is safe to do so.
1) Past the Johnstown Castle Road turnoff on the Rosslare Road.
2) Top Entrance of Wexford Race Course.
3) Rejoining original route at Batts Lane crossing Rosslare Road.
Please exercise caution at all times on the route and obey the Gardai and Stewards. Gardai and Stewards are there for your safety. Any abusive, inappropriate conduct or lack of co-operation towards Stewards or Gardai will result in disqualification.

Train Crossing Time – Please be aware…
Competitors who have not crossed onto the Quays from Paul St (site of the New Tourist Office) by 12.23pm (this is 2hrs 50mins from START) will be stopped to allow the Dublin – Wexford train to pass. Your Absolute co-operation is required here. Anyone who does not obey the Stewards at this point in time will be immediately disqualified and no longer be considered part of the race.

Surfaces on the Run Route
The surfaces will vary along the route from Cement and Wood along the Quay front to Tarmacadam on footpaths & roads. There are two road closures for your safety. Some of the run is on wide footpaths. Where indicated follow the arrows and keep off the road. The first few kms of the course will allow participants to run as a group and eventually spread out.
